Edelweiss Village + Resort

Chapter II · Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

More than a place to stay. Understanding the intention behind Edelweiss matters.

When Montayne took stewardship of the property in 2023, the vision was never to simply restore historic chalets or create another mountain hospitality destination. The vision was to protect something rare, then build thoughtfully around what already made it meaningful.

That intention shapes everything here. It shapes the pace of the property, the guest experience, the partnerships we pursue, the way we host, the stories we tell, and the future we're building toward. We believe hospitality should feel grounded, personal, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the place surrounding it.

Because while Edelweiss is beautiful, beauty alone is not enough to create a meaningful stay. People remember how places make them feel.

We want people to leave here feeling better than when they arrived.

Our Mission

To honour the heritage of the Swiss Guides. We provide a sanctuary for relaxation, adventure, and cultural exploration, offering our guests an experience that is both elegant and authentic.

Our Vision

To build one of the most meaningful and intentional hospitality experiences in the Canadian Rockies while preserving the history, spirit, and natural beauty that make Edelweiss unique.

Our Philosophy

Space matters. Story matters. Hospitality matters. Guests should feel cared for. Nature should feel accessible. Adventure should feel exciting. Luxury should feel personal.

What We Value

The beliefs that hold the village together.

  1. 01

    Hospitality First

Guests should feel genuinely cared for before they even arrive.

  2. 02

    Restoration Over Escapism

We're not trying to help people disappear from life. We're helping them reconnect to it.

  3. 03

    White Glove, Never Pretentious

Attentive, elevated hospitality without stiffness, performance, or unnecessary formality.

  4. 04

    Adventure With Ease

A calm, welcoming place to return to after extraordinary days in the mountains.

  5. 05

    Story Matters

History, landscape, people, and experience all shape the feeling of a stay here.

  6. 06

    Built With Intention

Growth should deepen the experience, not dilute it.

In Practice

Hospitality First

There's no shortage of places to stay in the mountains, and we never take your decision to stay with us lightly. Every guest arrives looking for something different — wedding weekends, group retreats, quiet time in the mountains, or a first experience of the Rockies.

Our role is to make every guest feel supported, welcomed, and genuinely cared for. That begins before arrival through thoughtful communication and attentive planning, and continues throughout the stay. Good hospitality should feel effortless for the guest, even when a great deal of care exists behind the scenes.

Adventure, Return, Restore

Edelweiss was built to support the full rhythm of a mountain stay. Guests arrive. They head into the mountains. They ski, hike, bike, paddle, climb, explore, celebrate, gather, and reconnect. Then they return.

Back to the chalets. Back to the firepit. Back to the sauna. Back to slower evenings and quieter mornings. We believe where you return to matters just as much as where you go.

Plan Your Trip

Shaping Your Stay

No two stays here are meant to look exactly the same. Some guests spend most of their time exploring the region. Others stay close to the property. Many experience a balance of both.

We work closely with local guides, restaurants, wellness providers, and community partners throughout Golden and the surrounding Rockies to help guests shape stays that feel aligned with what they're actually looking for. The experience is yours to define.

Plan Your Trip

Our Story

It's all about the story.

Every person arrives here with a story already unfolding. The history of the Swiss Guides is part of the foundation of Edelweiss, but the story of this place did not stop in 1912. There is the story of the families who lived here, the people who fought to protect the village, and the mountain culture of Golden.

And then there are the stories guests bring with them. A wedding weekend. A first trip to the Rockies. A long-awaited reunion. Places become meaningful when people feel emotionally connected to them, not just visually impressed by them.

Wellness

Wellness, by your definition.

We care less about prescribing wellness and more about helping people leave feeling better. For some guests, that means adventure and movement. For others, it means rest. Better sleep. Less noise. More time outside. Long dinners. Time together. Time alone.

Wellness is deeply personal, and we believe the best hospitality leaves room for people to define it for themselves — through space, pace, landscape, and the freedom to experience the property in your own way.

Looking Forward

The future of Edelweiss is being written with intention.

Future phases of the property will continue expanding the guest experience through wellness offerings, gathering spaces, hospitality experiences, partnerships, and thoughtful additions designed to strengthen the village without compromising its character.

Growth here will always be intentional. Because our vision is not simply to create a successful hospitality property. It's to build a place people feel deeply connected to long after they leave.
